About the 2nd Congressional District Race
The seat is currently held by Rep. Bobby Bright, a Democrat who won the seat last time around with 50% of the vote. The seat is heavily Republican. In fact, according to Cook Political and his PVI system, the 2nd District of Alabama is the 41st most Republican District in the country.

For the 16 years leading up to 2008, the seat was held by Rep. Terry Everett. When Everett retired, the seat was thought to be in safe hands of the Republicans. Democrats moved in and slipped away with a very narrow victory.

While many have worked to claim Bright is not “far left” or a part of the liberal elite/progressive machine, Bright has made clear that he will not take bold leadership for the people he was trusted to represent.

Instead of voting “Yes” on controversial legislation in the House, Bright often skips the vote or votes present to avoid being tied to the progressive agenda in Washington. Bright is clearly not the kind of representative who puts Liberty First in his political decisions, thus, we believe he provides poor representation for the good people of Alabama.

It’s time for real change, and we believe Rick Barber can provide it.

The GOP Primary
Rick Barber is facing the giant is in primary race against Republican establishment favorite, Martha Roby.

Unlike Barber, who is a small businessman and tea party activists who believes it his duty to run for office, Roby is an establishment political player. Roby has the nod of the NRCC as well as the “power heads” who anoint candidates based on their ability to “play ball.”

Roby will be well funded and embraced by the very machine that has caused many of the problems we face today. Rick Barber will be seeking to rebuild the system from the ground up, putting Liberty First in every decision he makes.

This race provides the movement with yet another prime opportunity to not only make a grand statement to the establishment, but also put true liberty minded candidates in office.
